Collection

      For this project, I created a collection and a means for display. For a while I wasn't sure what the collection would consist of, as I didn't think I collected anything; until after a few days I remembered my collection of socks. I could not display the collection in its full glory, unfortunately, as many of the socks were at a different location. However, I was able to pull together a considerable mount of socks, with enough to create several fun displays with. In a way the collection is the 4 things I did with the socks, but really it is the collecting of the socks I think that I have turned into art, as this now becomes a sort of life long performance piece in that I will always be wearing one of the pairs. I started with the idea of making a horror movie where everyone was the monster, playing with the perspective of who was really afraid of who. The video starts with the seeming normalcy of peaceful shots that descend into scarier shots, but does not end with a simple chase of the monster after the victims. It is ambiguous the entire time who or what the monster is, only that there is generally a sense of fear present. In the last scene, the tables are turned, and the victim who was assumedly stalked all along by the monster ends up being the one who seems the scariest. I distinguished who's perspective was being played out using sound effects and different visual effects, but in the end attempted to blur these effects to make it ambiguous that there ever were any differences in the characters or the "m...
